Meet at the Lyndale Neighborhood Office
3537 Nicollet Avenue
Come help clean up the Neighborhood. On Saturday, April 28th the
Environment Committee will be hosting the annual spring Litter Outa =
Lyndale.
This year we=92re having prizes for most bags picked up and strangest =
piece of
garbage.
We=92re also going to have a pot luck barbeque at the office, so come =
help
clean up the neighborhood and then hang out with the environment =
committee.
We also added a new feature. Learn how to make your own environmentally
friendly household cleaners. At the office we=92ll have all the =
materials you
need to learn to safe, effective, environmentally friendly cleaners. =
Each
participant will have the opportunity to make and take home up to three
cleaners.
As always, we=92ll have bags and gloves from the city. If possible, let =
us
know if you=92re coming so we can plan ahead. If you don=92t know until =
that
day, show up and pick up your route anyways.

GO FISH! is a benefit auction for the Blaisdell and Hiawatha YMCAs being

Want to see your Art Work all across Lyndale. The environment committee =
is
hosting a Design-A-Sign contest to advertise recycling days. Each sign
should incorporate the slogan =93Lyndale Recycles=94 into the design. =
Each sign
will have a topper that indicating which day recycling occurs for each
block.
=B7 Electronic submissions are preferred, but paper are also acceptable
1 Signs must be able to be printed using a four colors process
2 Include your name, phone, and email address
3 Entries must be received at the LNA office by June 1st.
4 The winner will be announced at the Lyndale Neighborhood

Minneapolis Comprehensive Plan Meetings
The City of Minneapolis has begun the process of updating its =
Comprehensive
Plan. Join City leaders at a Community Forum to learn about the process =

to discuss three themes that will shape the Minneapolis of the future:
sustainability, heritage preservation and urban design.=20
The same material will be discussed at all three forums. Following a =

overview of the update process, we will divide into three groups, one to

Rain Garden Workshops
Now in its third year, the Rain Garden Workshops Program brings together =
a
well-respected landscape ecologist Rusty Schmidt, landscape design and
horticultural professionals, Master Gardeners, an individual coaching
session, on-site consultations, cash match reimbursement grants for =
native
plants, as well as special native plant sales.
The five-part workshop program teaches homeowners and businesses about =
how
to design and plant rain gardens; and to use our Minnesota native plants =
to
beautify our neighborhoods and communities to attract birds and =
butterflies.
The program offers landowners:
1) A rain garden education
2) The technical and design support both in the classroom=20
3) On-site consultations,
4) Sources for the native plants needed=20
5) A cash reimbursement grant for native plants, providing an incentive =
to a
homeowner to install a rain garden in one planting season. =20

the=A0Rain Garden Workshops Program brings together a well-respected =
landscape ecologist Rusty Schmidt, landscape design and horticultural =
professionals, Master Gardeners, an individual coaching session, on-site =
consultations, cash match reimbursement grants for native plants, as =
well as special native plant sales.<BR>

The five-part workshop program teaches homeowners and businesses about =
how to design and plant rain gardens; and to use our Minnesota native =
plants to beautify our neighborhoods and communities to attract birds =
and butterflies. =A0</FONT></P>
