The Minneapolis School Board will be meeting this month at Lyndale Community
School, 312 W. 34th St. This will be the third in a series of meetings
called Boards Night Out held each month at a different school. This
effort is being done to get authentic feedback from the diverse school
communities in Minneapolis. This venue is not intended for staff, but is a
way for the community to dialogue with the Board. We hope you can come.
La Posada Save the Date

November General Membership Meeting
Monday, November 26th
7 to 9 pm
Painter Park
34th and Lyndale Avenue
At the November General Membership Meeting preview:
The issues we will be discussing are:
* Presentation and Discussion on the Blaisdell YMCA Renovation Plans
* Continuation of the Community Engagement Discussion
* Discussion of Neighborhood Decision Making and Committee Policy
* Draft 2008 LNA budget.
Also dont forget about Leonardos at Lyndale. LNA will now be hosting a
Leonardo's Basement class for kids approximately 4-12 years old during
General Membership meetings. It's a great alternative to simply having a
babysitter during meetings or no childcare - instead we will have a great
enrichment class - so parents can check out what's going on in the
neighborhood & kids get to invent, experiment, build, all sorts of things
with themes that relate to what's happening in the neighborhood.
Westy Copeland, a regular at Leonardo's and a Lyndale resident will be
teaching the classes.
We'll run them early - so those with early start schools can make a portion
of the class - 6:45pm -8pm. Come for just the first 45 min if bedtime is
early. There is a suggested donation per family - for 9 months of classes
for $30, or a drop-in of $10 per class which is a real bargain for
Leonardo's classes. The neighborhood is subsidizing the rest of the cost.
Call for Artists
Living Art featuring the work of artists from Kingfield and Lyndale and
affiliated artists from across the Twin Cities.
Annual Community Art Show and Silent Auction
Benefiting the Walldogs on Nicollet*
March 22, 7-10 PM
Rau+Barber Studio
4248 Nicollet Avenue S.
Call for Artists:
Local artists and community members are invited to create 2 or 3-dimensional
art based upon the concept Living Art. The phrase Living Art was shaped
from the recent public art mural painted by the Walldogs on 34th & Nicollet
that elaborates that to live is art. In this show we ask artists to seek
expression for the growing and evolving nature of their work or explore how
it plays a part in public life to create action or alter life. Artists are
encouraged to be flexible in their interpretation of the theme and how it is
incorporated in their work.
Youth Farm and Market Project to offer Free Family Health and Cooking Class
Come join us as a family to learn about healthy cooking, nutrition, and how
to make decisions that will protect you from diet related diseases like
diabetes. Open to youth ages 9 and up with their parents, guardians, or
siblings over 18 years old. Thursdays, 4 - 6pm, starting in November at the
Zion Lutheran Church, 33rd Street and Pillsbury Ave. Space is limited. Call
Rina at 612.990.9261 to register, or email at rina at youthfarm.net.
