Meet at the Lyndale Neighborhood Office

Come help clean up the Neighborhood.  On Saturday, April 26th the =
Environment Committee will be hosting the annual spring Litter Outa =
Lyndale.  This year we=E2=80=99re having prizes for most bags picked up =
and strangest piece of garbage.

We=E2=80=99re also going to have a pot luck barbeque at the office, so =
come help clean up the neighborhood and then hang out with the =
environment committee.

As always, we=E2=80=99ll have bags and gloves from the City.  So if you =
know you=E2=80=99re coming let Mark know so we can plan ahead.  If you =
don=E2=80=99t know until that day, show up and pick up your route =
anyways.

Lyndale Neighborhood in the Mpls/St. Paul Home Tour
Saturday, April 26th and Sunday, April 27th=20

Three Lyndale homes will be featured on this years Minneapolis/St. Paul =
Home Tour. The homes of  Trish Lundberg and Shannon O'Halloran at 3223 =
Blaisdell Ave. S., Holly  Reckel at 3523 Garfield Ave, and Bryce and =
Kelly Pier at 3224 Harriet  Ave will be welcoming as many as 1,000 =
visitors over the weekend. The  Tour's goal is to showcase urban homes =
and neighborhoods and is free to  the public.=20

The homes on the tour are staffed by volunteers who help  people =
register at the door, direct guests around the home, and answer  =
questions about the home and neighborhood. The homeowners are still in  =
need of several volunteers to help staff their homes. Shifts recommended =
by the Tour are 9:30 -  1:30 and 1 - 5 on Saturday and 12:30 - 5 on =
Sunday but shorter shifts can be scheduled as well. If you are =
interested in volunteering, contact Bryce Pier at btpier at menolly.net.


Walldogs Mural Preview Party
Saturday, May 3rd
7 to 11 pm

At the home of Mark Hinds and Lisl Fuhrken
3616 Blaisdell Avenue, Mpls, MN 55409

This party will be your first chance to check out the designs for the =
Walldogs meet this July.  At the party, you will be able to see where =
the murals are going, what they will look like, and hear about the =
artists leading each project.  We will also have all of the information =
you=E2=80=99ll need to register to paint and volunteer for the meet this =
summer.

Walldogs on Nicollet is a joint project of the Lyndale and Kingfield =

and volunteers coming together to paint six to ten murals along Nicollet =
Avenue from Lake Street to 46th Street from July 24th through July 27th, =
2008.

Summer Sampler is a resource fair for youth and families in the Lyndale =
Neighborhood.  Come and discover what programs are available for your =
kids this summer!  We are excited to welcome a free concert by =
Al=E2=80=99s Rockabilly quartet, which is comprised of members of the =
local band the Vibro Champs!  We=E2=80=99ll have the Moon Walk from the =
YMCA, and fun activities provided by Leonardo=E2=80=99s basement, Chicas =
in the Mix, Youth farm and Market Project and many more.   For more =

Fischer Grocery Mural Commemorative T-Shirts On Sale NOW!
Each T-shirt shows the Fischer Grocery Mural in living color as it =
looked before the unfortunate series of fires took the Fischer Grocery =
building on February 20th.  The T-shirts depict the finished mural in =
full color over a field of deep orange.

Each T-Shirt is $15 and comes in men=E2=80=99s and women=E2=80=99s cuts. =
 All sizes are available.

T-shirts may be purchased by stopping by the LNA office located at 3537 =

South Mpls YMCAs GoFish Cocktail Party & Benefit Auction
On Saturday, April 26, the South Minneapolis YMCAs will hold the 2nd =
Annual GoFish Cocktail Party and Benefit Auction at Stella=E2=80=99s =
Fish Caf=C3=A9 in Uptown. The event runs from 6:00-8:30pm and benefits =
the YMCA=E2=80=99s 2008 Y Partners Campaign, which raises money to help =
families utilize the YMCA for membership and programs. Details:

Youth Farm Summer Job Opportunities
*	Summer Garden and Focus Group Leaders: facilitate youth to manage an =
urban garden in the mornings, lead a themed activity in the afternoons. =
Work with 10-15 youth ages 9-13 and two awesome youth staff. 25 hrs/wk =
$10/hr, T/W/F 8am-4pm. Themes include: murals, biking, step dance, =
leadership.=20
*	Summer Cook: Make 3 lunches a week for 60+ people, teach kids to cook =
and to have safe kitchen skills, work with fresh, healthy ingredients. =
18hrs/wk, $11/hr. T/W/F 8am-2pm
*	Farm Apprentice: An educational opportunity, manage three urban =
farms=E2=80=93 water and daily upkeep. 10 hrs/wk, small stipend. Learn =

all three neighborhoods focusing on local and organic foods.  15hrs/wk, =
$12/hr.

at the State Capitol that would provide funding for a third phase of the =
NRP program.&nbsp; So far this year the NRP program has received a very =
positive response from legislators.&nbsp; The challenge is in finding a =
source for funding.&nbsp; House File 3821 &amp; Senate File </FONT><FONT =
COLOR=3D"#000000" SIZE=3D2 FACE=3D"Arial">3643 would provide $110 =
million for NRP over the next ten years.&nbsp; This amount would fill =
the deficit created in the property tax changes a few years ago, =
bringing the total program funding to the $400 million originally =
committed.</FONT></P>

<P><FONT COLOR=3D"#000000" SIZE=3D2 FACE=3D"Arial">Please take a few =
moments and contact the chairs of the House and Senate Tax Committees =
and let them know how important strong neighborhoods are to Minneapolis =
and to your quality of life. Ask them to fund NRP this year. If you have =

this years Minneapolis/St. Paul Home Tour. The homes of&nbsp; Trish =
Lundberg and Shannon O'Halloran at 3223 Blaisdell Ave. S., Holly&nbsp; =
Reckel at 3523 Garfield Ave, and Bryce and Kelly Pier at 3224 =
Harriet&nbsp; Ave will be welcoming as many as 1,000 visitors over the =
weekend. The&nbsp; Tour's goal is to showcase urban homes and =
neighborhoods and is free to&nbsp; the public. </FONT></P>

<P><FONT SIZE=3D2 FACE=3D"Arial">The homes on the tour are staffed by =
volunteers who help&nbsp; people register at the door, direct guests =
around the home, and answer&nbsp; questions about the home and =
neighborhood. The homeowners are still in&nbsp; need of several =
volunteers to help staff their homes. Shifts recommended by the Tour are =
9:30 -&nbsp; 1:30 and 1 - 5 on Saturday and 12:30 - 5 on Sunday but =
shorter shifts can be scheduled as well. If you are interested in =
