February General Membership Meeting
General Membership Preview
Monday February 25
Painter Park
7:00 to 8:30 pm
Heres what is on tap for the February General Membership Meeting
Lyn-Lake Small Area Plan
The City of Minneapolis Community Planning and Economic Development
Department is initiating a small area plan process in conjunction with
Council Members Remington and Lilligren for the Lyn-Lake area and will begin
engaging residents, business owners, and other stakeholders soon. A small
area plan builds upon the Citys comprehensive plan and provides more
detailed planning policy than can be provided at the city wide level. Small
Area Plans typically include recommendations related to land use and design,
infrastructure improvements, and economic development. A steering committee
will be established to provide feedback and assist with outreach, and a
series of community meetings will be held during the planning process, which
is expected to take about a year.
Block Club Discussion
Were currently working on revamping the block club leader program for
Lyndale. At the general membership meeting were going to be having a
discussion around whats worked and what hasnt worked with block clubs in
the past, what role people would like to see them take in the future, and
ideas people have to make their block clubs fun.
Also, dont forget about Leonardos at Lyndale, LNAs new program that
provides a class from Leonardos Basement for kids 4 to 12 during the
General Membership Meetings in the Arts and Crafts room at the Park so whole
families can participate in their community.

LNN Survey Reminder
The Lyndale Neighborhood News Staff put together a survey to gather your
thoughts on Lyndales community paper. They would appreciate it if you
would fill it out and return it to the LNA office. You can either drop it
off or mail it to LNA, 3537 Nicollet Avenue, Mpls, MN 55408. The LNN staff
puts a lot of time and effort into the paper and they would really
appreciate hearing your thoughts back about the paper.
Community Impact Statements
At a recent 5th Precinct court watch meeting the following cases were
identified as needing Community Impact Statements (CIS). These statements
are extremely important because they help demonstrate to the judge how a
crime has affected you and the community. To influence the judges sentence
(ask the judge to give the defendant the maximum jail time allowed, for
example, or require the defendant to do certain things- like treatment or
community service- as conditions of probation). More information about
Community Impact Statements can be found at
http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/attorney/impact-statements-faq.asp
Please write and submit the attached Community Impact Statements for the
people listed below. Provide details about the activities you are aware
this individual has been involved in as well as how their activity has
affected your general livability. Please forward this email to other
neighbors who are also willing to write and submit a CIS. Wed also
appreciate it if you would let Sarah (sarah at lyndale.org 612.824.9402 ext
12) know when you submit a statement or if you have any questions. Timing
is really important, so please submit these ASAP.
