Community Barbecue and Puppet Show
The Peace Park
Friday, July 18th
3100 Block of Pillsbury (between 31st and 32nd St.)
6:00 pm Free Barbecue
7:00 pm Puppet Show by Open Eye Theatre
Join us tonight at the Peace Park for a community barbecue and puppet show
The Adventure of Katie Tomatie by Open Eye Figure Theatre. This is a
different show than the one they performed at Fish Fest. The event will be
free, have good food, treats, a garden tour, and will be a great chance to
meet your neighbors. This event is part of the Lyndale Youth and Family
Safety Initiative.
Walldogs on Nicollet
July 24th to 27th
Various times and locations
It is time for the Walldogs. If youve been driving down Nicollet this week
you may have noticed that the walls are already being prepped for next
weeks big Walldogs on Nicollet meet. We are really hoping that as many
people as possible check out the painting, attend the events, and help out
as volunteers during the event.
Mural Designs
All of the mural designs for the Walldogs on Nicollet meet are now posted on
the Walldogs website at www.walldogs.lyndale.org. You can either check
them out through the individual site pages

Event Highlight
Walldogs on Nicollet Block Party
5 to 11 pm
Zion Lutheran Church
128 W 33rd St
At the Walldogs on Nicollet Block Party we will be celebrating all of the
work the artists and volunteers have done to complete this amazing project.
At the event we will be serving gyro dinners, have a beer garden, drawing
the winners for the Walldogs raffle, and having a beer garden.
The music lineup for the night is:
5 to 6 pm Thershold
6 to 7:30 pm Cornbread Harris
7:30 to 8:30 pm Artist Celebration, we will also be auctioning off the
artists mock-up of their mural designs.
8:30 to 10:30 pm Curtiss A and the Jacks of Fate
The event itself is free with a $5 suggested donation.

Volunteer Orientation
Monday, July 21, 7 p.m.
All volunteers are invited to a short orientation meeting on Monday evening
at the Lyndale Neighborhood Association (3537 Nicollet Ave.) This session
will give volunteers an overview of the Walldogs on Nicollet project so they
can be informed about the meet and all related events.
We want you all to feel comfortable and confident answering questions about
the project. We'll review various volunteer roles and answer questions you
have.
If you have haven't yet signed up to volunteer, join us for the meeting and
we'll get you signed up there.
Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer Shifts Still Available
July 24-27
Having great volunteers to help with support, set-up, and clean-up are
integral to the success of this project. If you haven't yet signed up, don't
worry, we've got a job for you. Some of the roles we need to fill include:
* Runners to help bring materials to mural sites
* Set up for the Saturday Family Friendly Arts Fest and Walldogs Block
Party
* Server and Food Prep volunteers on Saturday at Walldogs Block Party
* Information/Registration Table volunteers
* Volunteers to sell raffle tickets
* Greeters
* Clean-up on Sunday

Donate a Bottle of Wine for the Walldogs Raffle
The Walldogs will be holding a raffle to help raise money for the project.
First prize will be a wine cellar of wine and beer donated by our friends.
Please consider giving a bottle or two of your favorite wine or beer to help
make this prize really fabulous. Drop donations off at the LNA office (3537
Nicollet Avenue).
Dont forget to buy your Walldogs Raffle Tickets. Each ticket is $5.00 and
gives you a chance to win great prizes from local businesses such as: El
Paraiso Restaurant, Champions, Victors 1959 Café, Grand Café, the Minnesota
Twins, the Minnesota Lynx, Corporate Incentives, and many more.
Beer Bust at Champions to Help Raise Money for the Bike Cops
Saturday, July 19th

Help raise money for the Lyndale Bike Cops. Come mingle with neighbors.
Tickets are $10
Tickets can be purchased at the LNA Office (3537 Nicollet Avenue) or at the

Nominate a Garden for the 2nd Annual Lyndale Garden Tour
Wednesday, August 20th
6:00 8:30 pm
Celebrate outdoor city living with a garden tour in the Lyndale
Neighborhood. Join us for the second annual tour and visit 6-10 gardens that
will give inspiration on making your own yard an extension of your living
space.
This years event will take place on Wednesday August, 20th, from 6:00
8:30pm. Meet up for a guided tour or get a map ahead of time and meander at
your own pace. End the tour in the neighborhood rain garden at 32nd and
Pillsbury for a social gathering and raffle drawing.
Tickets for $5.00 are available at the LNA office at 3537 Nicollet Avenue or
from one of the members of the Environment Committee. Admittance into the
tour also enters you into the raffle for a chance to win a basket of wine
and other great items.
Proceeds from the Garden Tour help keep the neighborhood green by supporting
the work of the LNA Environment Committee and helping with on-going
maintenance of the Blaisdell Rain Garden. For more information or to

Fallout Art Fest
July 19th, Noon 10 pm

1,500-2,000 attend and features 4 indoor/outdoor stages, art gallery,
interactive art booths, drum jams, free food, kids activities, 30
bands/performers & 50+ young and local artists.
Interactive Art Booths (pottery, screen printing, mosaic, community mural,
stained glass, puppet making)
Come check out the FAI Art Coop (old Jimmy Jingle building) and it's more
than 20 newly restored studios.
Location: 2600 block of Stevens Ave and 2nd Ave, and will also include
indoor activities in the Fallout Urban Art Center - 2609 Stevens Ave S and
the FAI COOP - 2601 2nd Ave S
LNA Strategic Planning Survey (Please take online)
The Lyndale Neighborhood Association (LNA) is currently working on a
strategic plan to help create a vision for Lyndale and a guide for the
Neighborhoods program, events, and activities over the next three years.
An important step in this process is in understanding what Lyndale community
members think of LNAs current work and potential future direction.
Please take a few minutes to fill out this survey it should take around 10
to 15 minutes; we really appreciate your participation. You can take it

National Night Out
Tuesday, August 5th
Help us get people out to National Night Out. Let Sarah

scheduled a National Night Out party. We can help you get the word out,
make flyers, etc, to make sure everyone on your block knows about National
Night Out.
The online registration/street closure application for National Night Out is
now available. Log on to: http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/nno/. People can
also register an event or apply for street closure by calling 311.
