Lyndale Annual Meeting and Grill-A-Thon (This Monday)
Monday, June 23rd

Bring your best dessert
for the Annual Dessert contest to share!

- Hear about what is ahead for next year
We will be releasing the first round of images for this summers Walldogs on
Nicollet meet at the Annual Meeting! So come be the first to see these
beautiful designs!

Help the Walldogs
The Walldogs on Nicollet <http://www.walldogs.lyndale.org/> meet (July 24th
to July 27th) is only six weeks away and weve got a lot to do before then.
Here are a few ways you can help.
Wall Prep
We'll be washing and priming walls, and cleaning up Nicollet Avenue before
the big meet. So help us get everything ready!
Saturday, July 12 - Washing Walls, all afternoon
Thursday, July 17 - Litter Out of Lyndale and Clean Up Kingfield! (litter
pick-up), 6 to 8 pm.
Thursday July 17 - Priming Walls, all afternoon
Everyone is encouraged to help pick up trash and clean up the mural sites on
the 17th. Let us know in advance if you want to help wash or prime walls.
Check in at LNA office for all activities, including picking up trash bags
and gloves.
To volunteer for this or any other Walldogs related stuff contact Julia at

Donate a Bottle of Wine for the Walldogs Raffle
The Walldogs will be holding a raffle to help raise money for the project.
First prize will be a wine cellar of wine and beer donated by our friends.
Please consider giving a bottle or two of your favorite wine or beer to help
make this prize really fabulous. Drop donations off at the LNA office.
Stay tuned for info on how to help sell (and buy!) raffle tickets.
Don't Forget to Save Cans
Saving cans and yogurt containers is a simple way for you to help. Drop off
cans to the LNA during office hours anytime between today and the meet.
Walldogs Registration Information
With the Walldogs on Nicollet meet fast approaching its not too early to
think about how you want to be involved. To help keep everything moving
smoothly were asking that people who want to help paint register. You can
check out all of the registration and volunteer information here

Lyn-Lake Small Area Plan Open House (Tuesday, June 24th)

The first community meeting for the Lyn-Lake Small Area Plan will be held on
Tuesday, June 24th. At this first meeting there will be opportunities to:
Hear an overview of the process to come
Share information about existing conditions and policy
Discuss peoples vision for the future of the Lyn-Lake area

Beer Bust at Champions to Help Raise Money for the Bike Cops
Saturday, July 19th

Help raise money for the Lyndale Bike Cops. Come mingle with neighbors.

Painter Park Summer Camp Information
Ages 6-12
$20.00 per week or $150.00 for all eight weeks
For Lyndale Residents
1:00pm to 4:30pm
SPORTS MANIA
Basketball, soccer, kickball, dodge ball
..we will try them all. This
session is dedicated to sports and games. Participants will spend their
afternoon making friends, playing games, making crafts, cooking all with a
sports theme.
Monday-Thursday, June 16-26
Art Adventure
This session will be a messy one! Participants will try out a different art
project each day and creativity will be necessary. Painting, drawing, and
sculpture are just a few of the many mediums we will explore.
Monday-Thursday, July 7-17
Lyndale Express
Bowling, pools, beaches, libraries and more! During this session
participants will explore the Lyndale neighborhoods and beyond. Each day
participants will go on a fieldtrip through out the neighborhood and city.
Locations include Lake Harriet, Bryant Lake Bowl, YMCA, the library and
more!
Monday-Thursday, July 21-31
Science Exploration
This session is perfect for the child with an inquiring mind! The first
week is lead by a naturalist and participants will explore animals and
nature. During the second week participants will do hands-on experiments
and turn the park into a laboratory.
Monday-Thursday, August 4-14

LNA Strategic Planning Survey (Please take online)
The Lyndale Neighborhood Association (LNA) is currently working on a
strategic plan to help create a vision for Lyndale and a guide for the
Neighborhoods program, events, and activities over the next three years.
An important step in this process is in understanding what Lyndale community
members think of LNAs current work and potential future direction.
Please take a few minutes to fill out this survey it should take around 10
to 15 minutes; we really appreciate your participation. You can take it

Green Carpet Film Festival
Forget the Red Carpet! Linden Hills Power & Light (LHP&L) invites residents
to create a digital video 30 seconds to 2 minutes in length for a GREEN
carpet event. There are three prizes of $300, three prizes of $150 and a
grand prize of $500. Videos should promote one of the following themes: 1.
The MN Energy Challenge (get information at www.mnenergychallenge.org); 2.
Organics Recycling -benefits or "how to" (research on the web or get
information at www.lhpowerandlight.org); or 3. Waste reduction/ Conservation
or Anaerobic Digestion (you can research on the web, or find information at
www.lhpowerandlight.org). Entries are due September 15th, with a screening
date of mid September. It's a great summer project for kids and families!
Some Ideas for your Green Themed Digital Video Include:
* An ad for the MN Energy Challenge imagine you're trying to get as
many people as possible excited about signing up.
* The benefits of recycling organics material
* How easy it is to recycle organic material
* What's compostable and what's not.
* What is anaerobic digestion?
* How can people reduce waste?
* Music video featuring your own original music

The online registration/street closure application for National Night Out is
now available. Log on to: http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/nno/. People can
also register an event or apply for street closure by calling 311.
