Blaisdell YMCA Remodel Update
The Blaisdell YMCA remodel project is underway. On Monday, March 10th, Blaisdell closed the basketball gym to start moving all fitness equipment into that space – this was completed on Wednesday, March 12th, with only a studio left in the old fitness space. During the rest of March, crews will be working on moving phone, electrical and office space out of the south side of the building being torn down and into current space not affected by the project.
The first week of April, a new temporary entrance will open on the east side of the YMCA, with Membership operations also moving to the gym. Equipment, classes, swimming pool, track and locker rooms are unaffected during the transition and remodel. Only the basketball gym is closed. The majority of the project is expected to be completed in November, with final projects expected to be completed in early 2009. The finished remodel adds space for 2 new studios, a 2nd floor fitness space overlooking 34th St & Blaisdell Ave, a new lobby and office space, bigger Kids Stuff space, a multi-purpose youth space in the old fitness center and 4 family locker rooms with access directly to the pool.

Eco-friendly winter home and yard maintenance!
Thursday, March 20
7:00-8:00 pm
MLK Park, 4055 Nicollet Avenue South
All urban-dwellers are invited to join the Kingfield Neighborhood Association (KFNA) Green Committee for Minnesota’s 1st winter maintenance training class designed for homeowners. This will be a chance to learn about de-icer selection, application rates, snow removal methods and environmental impacts. For the past 10 years this type of training has been available only to snow and ice control professionals. Now it is available to you in a simplified, and entertaining!, format.
Since this is a new program piloted in 2008 we are interested in understanding homeowner winter maintenance concerns. Any information you can share with us will help us improve our new training program. Bring your trickiest winter maintenance concerns and join in the discussion. Eco-friendly treats, hand–baked and foot-delivered, by Butter, and Peace Coffee brewed by Anodyne!
This program is funded by the Mississippi WMO and presented by Fortin Consulting Inc. Questions can be directed to Sarah Linnes-Robinson, KFNA Executive Director at kfna at email.com or 612.823.5980.
