Litter OUTA Lyndale
Saturday, October 11th
10 am to 1:00 pm
Join us on Saturday, October 11th for the fall Litter Outa Lyndale.  This
time we’ve got two pick up places for your convenience.  You can pick up
your gloves, bags, and route at either the LNA Office 3537 Nicollet Avenue
or at Painter Park (34th street and Lyndale) anytime from 10 am to Noon.
Starting at 12:30 pm join us back at the LNA office for a potluck barbecue.

Help Get Out The Vote (GOTV) in Lyndale
LNA is going to be working this election to help turn Lyndale community
members out to vote.  We will be conducting nonpartisan Get Out To Vote
(GOTV) efforts during October and November and are looking for people to
help out. 

We will be hosting a training for people who want to learn about how to get
people out to vote.  The training is on Wednesday, October 15th from 5:30 to
6:30 pm at the LNA offices (3537 Nicollet Avenue)

Training topics will include:
*	Absentee voting
*	Same Day Registration
*	Tips and Tactics for planning for Get Out the Vote activities
	(doors and phones)
*	How to be Nonpartisan (What a 501c3 can do for the elections)

Come experiment with food and food delivery technology just in time for the
Holidays.... Activities may include:

*	"Does it fry?" - try deep-fried anything including shooting potatoes
through a screen for instant French Fries.
*	"Guns & food" - use caulking guns and grease guns to decorate cakes
and dispense other soft goodies.
*	"Really cold ice cream" - using liquid nitrogen and savory
flavorings.

4th Annual Halloween Walk
Monstrous Crime Out!
Sunday, October 26th
4pm Meeting at 3200 Pleasant Ave S.
This is a strategic, proactive Crime Prevention Walk sponsored by the
Lyndale Walkers.  Everyone is invited, it is a family friendly walk. If one
has not experienced Shirley in the Gorilla suit, you really shouldn’t miss
it.  Costumes are absolutely optional.    Just join us!

Candidate Forum for the State House seat for district 61B
Monday, October 27th
Painter Park
6:30 to 8:00 pm

Join us at the October General Membership Meeting to hear from the
candidates for the 61B State House Race.  This is your chance to ask the
candidates about the issues that matter most to you.  Both Jeff Hayden and
Farheen Hakeem have committed to participating in the forum.  We’ll also
hear about the Minneapolis school referendum.

Youth Farm wants your leaves! 
As we approach fall and raking season, Youth Farm wants to put it out there
to our Lyndale Neighbors that we are looking for some leaves! Leaves are
great for our gardens and compost pile. If you have some to give, you can
either call or email Rina to arrange pick-up, or simply drop them off (in a
well-sealed bag please) in the back of our Pillsbury garden (drive down the
alley between Pillsbury and Pleasant, in the 3100 block until you see our
shed, close to 31st street on the east side of the alley. Rina is reachable
at 612.990.9261 or rina at youthfarm.net.  
Rental Property Owner Workshop
The MPD and Housing  Inspections are sponsoring a Rental Property Owner
Workshop: 
  
		Thursday, October 23, 5-9 pm 
		St. Mary’s Greek Orthodox Church 
		3450 Irving Ave. S 
		Pre-registration required 
		Cost: $20 if registered by Oct. 16; $30 thereafter. The fee
covers a manual and other materials, a DVD on Housing Court and a box meal. 
  
This 4-hour workshop includes useful information on: 
		The ABC’s of property management 
		Dealing with tenant behavior issues 
		Tenant screening 
		Effective leases 
		Housing Court 
		Working with the MPD and Inspections 
		Much more 
		  
The workshop is particularly useful for new owners and those owners/managers
who are having problems at their properties.
