2009 Lyndale Open House
Thursday, March 19th
6:00 to 8:30 pm
Lyndale Community School (34th & Grand Ave)

The theme for this year’s Open House is to “Be the Change.” The planning
committee chose this theme to highlight how LNA is working to bring
community members together to “Be the Change” they want to see in the
neighborhood.

This year’s Open House will be on Thursday, March 29th at the Lyndale
Community School (312 W 34th St.) from 6:00 to 8:30 pm. The Open House is
one of Lyndale’s biggest events of the year. This year’s event will feature
food from local restaurants, a silent auction, as well as representatives
from LNA committees and other local nonprofits who provide services in the
neighborhood.

New this year will be expanded activities for kids. This will include
activities by local youth organizations who will be organizing games and
activities for kids in the school’s gym.

Great Gatherings will also be back this year. Great Gatherings are events
hosted by neighbors for neighbors. The way they work is that people are
able to sign up for slots for the events they want to attend. But be
careful, each Great Gathering has a limited number of spots, so if you don’t
get your name in early, you may be out of luck

Want to get a head start on the auction items and Great Gatherings, check

meetings accessible to everyone in the neighborhood LNA provides a class for
kids 4 to 12 from Leonardo’s Basement during every General Membership
meeting. The class is free, but with a suggested donation for those that
can.

Comment on the LNA Strategic Plan for 2009-2011
Last spring LNA started the process of developing a strategic plan for 2009
to 2011. Through this process the steering committee has conducted surveys,
held retreats and focus groups, and tried to help craft a direction to guide
LNA's work during the next three years.

The plan has reached the point where it's ready for your comments and
feedback. Linked from this post you will find a full draft of the LNA
Strategic Plan.
c> The full plan includes background information on the environment LNA is
working in and the outcome measures that will be used to determine how much
process we're making as a neighborhood on our goals.

Comments on the plan should be directed to Mark Hinds at mark at lyndale.org or
612.824.9402 ext 16. The tentative plan is to have a discussion and
approval vote at the March General Membership meeting. The tentative part
is based on the feedback received between now and then, if people would like
to hold off and change parts of the plan the vote can happen at a later
meeting.

The goal of the planning group and the board is to have a plan that
represents the community's desire for how we can create a safe, vibrant,
sustainable Lyndale.

Strategic Direction
LNA's strategic direction for the next three years builds off of the
neighborhood's strong history of community driven action.

Vision
Create a safe, vibrant, sustainable community.

Mission
The Lyndale Neighborhood Association is a diverse community driven
organization that brings people together to work on common issues and
opportunities to ensure all community members have the opportunity to live,
work, and play in a safe, vibrant, and sustainable community.

Goals
LNA's goals for the next three years embody what the organization is trying
to accomplish in order to create a safe, sustainable, and vibrant
neighborhood:

LNA's goals for 2009 to 2011
*	Be the go-to resource for the neighborhood.
*	Have an active diverse cross-section of community members working to
improve their neighborhood.
*	Engage community members to actively work to improve the
neighborhood.
*	Have the human, financial, and organizational resources necessary to
