Our own Fairy Godmother is a national finalist and she needs our votes!
In April, Lyndale resident/fairy godmother Terre Thomas, and her gift shop
in Calhoun Square, was chosen as one of 50 national finalists (out of almost
2000 small business entries) in the Intuit/QuickBooks Small Business
contest. She won $5000 and with a 2 minute video entry of her story, she
has the chance to win $10-25,000 for the First or Grand Prize.

Forty percent of her score comes from votes from the public at the
Intuit/QuickBooks contest website. Would you help the fairy godmother and
go watch it and vote by May 31st?

Watch the video and vote* at this link:
http://community.intuit.com/contests/dZjlbEw_eqllvkab8P4pmk

Or go to: www.Community.Intuit.com/contests (search Fairy Godmother)

Vote by May 31st!

*You have to register at the site to vote; it's just four boxes. If you
have any trouble registering, call Fairy Godmother at 612/825-2850 or email
Terre at YFGodmother at aol.com

Lyndale Campers Camp Out Weekend of June 5th to 7th
After a quiet summer last year (or was it too busy), the Lyndale Campers
will gather Friday aft through Sunday, June 5 – 7, at Group Site #1 at
Interstate State Park, on the St. Croix River, near Taylor's Falls -on the
MN side of the river. This is a gorgeous site, in one of the last huge
stands of white pine, right ON the river, all grass sites, with a huge fire
ring built by the CCC in the 1930’s. This weekend will be hosted by Linda
Alton and Lynne Larsen, the Skrien family, and the Johansson-Prince family.
So you know fun times will be ‘around’ all of the time. Are you a first
time camper? Need equipment? Let one of us know (612-823-2518 to call
Lynne and Linda) or email at lindaalton at gmail.com
we have access to lots of
‘stuff’.

Some rubrics:
*	Please let us know if you are coming. We are technically not
supposed to have more than 25 on the site, so will need to know what you
should tell the gate at sign in
(!!)
*	Interstate is an easy drive, a bit more than an hour. You will need
to have or purchase a State Park sticker
either for the time you are there,
or for the season.
*	Fee: We paid for the site last Aug when the reservation was made,
and will calculate your part of the fee relative to how many campers join.
Say you are with the ‘Alton-Larsen’ group, when you sign in.
*	We all bring our own food, typically ‘share’ some part of our dinner
meal as we cook together over open fire.
*	Bring instruments for singing around the fire

*	Wood: if each of us purchase one round of wood at the gate, we will
be in good shape.
*	We are not officially in our ‘site’ until 4 p.m. on Friday, however
typically early arrival is no problem, and we’ll put up signs
 we are either
in site 1 or 2, right ON the river.
*	Park by the GROUP Camp site signs in the Interstate lot, you will
have to carry your things in about 100 yards. A wagon may be helpful.
*	You can come for one or two nights, or just join us during the day,
if you’d like.
*	There is lots to do
both exploring the ‘potholes’ at the park, and
clambering around the rocks. There is a rumor that some climbing coaching
may be available from local Lyndale climbing talent! Come prepared.
Swimming in the St. Croix is NOT an option
however kayaking and boating
definitely can be on your schedule.

Lyndale Garden Tour – Looking for Gardens
Thursday, July 16th

We’re still looking for some of those great gardens and hidden gems for this
year’s tour. So if you have gift with gerberas or know someone with a
passion for pansies and they live in the Lyndale Neighborhood, let us know.
Send your garden recommendations to Mark <mailto:mark at lyndale.org> at
612.824.9402 ext 16.

Great Gatherings
It’s not too late. There’s still time to participate in this year’s Great
Gatherings. Each Great Gathering is an event or activity hosted by a
community member for other community members. 100 percent of the proceeds
from the Great Gatherings goes to support LNA.

To sign up for either of these Great Gatherings contact Norma at
612.824.9402 ext 15 or email norma at lyndale.org. You can check out the full
list of Great Gatherings at www.lyndale.org <http://www.lyndale.org/> .

Cementing Memories for your Garden Pathways
Each participant in this outdoor event held in Linda and Lynne’s back yard
will design and make 4 large garden ‘stones’ of cement
embellished with
memory items they bring, or wonderful riff raff from Lynne and Linda’s
endless supply. Lunch included: ‘make you own’ grilled pizza . This event
welcomes the planting season, and will be kid-friendly.

light lunch. We'll also have some other fun activities going on.
