New Parking Restrictions for Grand and Bryant Avenue South
Message from the City of Minneapolis
This is to advise you that because parts of Bryant and Grand Avenues South
have become very narrow due to accumulations of snow, at the recommendation
of Metro Transit and Public Works, these streets will have semi-permanent,
metal signs installed on them over the weekend, that will prohibit parking
on the west sides (only) of both streets.
Note that these are Snow Emergency Routes, so this is not being done as part
of the implementation of the Winter Parking Restrictions. It is a high
transit corridor that has become difficult to navigate and Metro Transit has
requested that this be done. It has been done in the past, independent of
any Winter Parking restrictions; the last time being about 5 years ago.
The outbound dialing and voice messaging system should send an alert to the
properties along each segment (only). Below is the text of the message
that is being sent:
This is an important message from the City of Minneapolis.
At the recommendation of Metro Transit, this weekend, Public Works will
install No Parking signs on:
Bryant Avenue, from Lake Street to 50th Street West side only
Grand Avenue, from Lake Street to 48th Street West side only
They will be in place until April 1st. Vehicles that park in violation of
the signs may be ticketed and towed.
Again, please watch for No Parking signs on Bryant and Grand Avenues that
will be installed this weekend.
Thank you.

2010 Lyndale Open House
Thursday, March 25th
Lyndale Community School (312 west 34th St.)
6:00 to 8:30 pm
We need your help to make this years Open House a great event. Every year
it a takes neighborhood to help plan and organize the Lyndale Open House.
Here are some simple ways to help out with the Open House.
Host a Great Gathering Great Gatherings are fun events, activities,
outings, hosted by community members for other community members. They can
be parties, dinners, crafty days, happy hours, family day at the farm, or
whatever you can think of. Have an idea you want to talk about or a skill
you want to share, just contact Mark at 612.824.9402 ex 16 /
mark at lyndale.org.
Volunteer It takes a lot of people to help set up, serve the food, get
everyone signed in, and run the silent auction. We still need dozens of
people to fill volunteer shifts at this years Open House. Want to
volunteer, but also want to enjoy the open house? Dont worry, we have the
volunteer shifts set up so you can volunteer for around an hour and still
have plenty of time to enjoy the Open House. To volunteer contact Sarah
<mailto:sarah at lyndale.org> at 612.824.9402 ex 12
Donate a Silent Auction or Raffle Item One of the really fun things about
the Open House is the great items community members and local businesses
donate to help raise money for LNA. So far this year we already have great
items from Top Shelf, Sara Goettsch, Herkimer Pub & Brewery, Grays Leather,
the St. Paul St. Saints and more. Were still looking for more items, have
something that youre willing to donate contact Norma
<mailto:norma at lyndale.org> at 612.824.9402 ex 15.
So mark down March 25th on your calendar and plan on coming to the 2010
Lyndale Open House. This is one of your best chances to connect with whats
happening in the neighborhood and support LNA. For more information about
the Open House contact Mark at 612.824.9402 ex 16 / mark at lyndale.org.

New City Appointment Process and Current Openings
The City of Minneapolis now has a new, streamlined process for appointing
individuals to serve on volunteer boards and commissions.
Appointments to City boards and commissions will now be made two times per
year through formal City Council and Mayoral processes. One of the notable
advantages in this streamlined process is the ability to communicate about
many openings at one time giving community members a better understanding of
the options available to them.
Current openings
On the City of Minneapolis Web site at
http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/boards-and-commissions/open/index.asp you
will find a list of vacancy notices. As we transition boards to this new
twice yearly process the closing dates for applications may vary. Please be
sure to note the closing dates for a particular position. Many of these
close dates are April 2nd, 2010 however some have a more immediate closing.
US Census Bureau is hiring part-time Census taker positions in the Lyndale
neighborhood.
These positions, although temporary, offer flexible hours and pay starts at
$16.50/hr. If you are interested, please contact the Minneapolis Census
office at 612-216-6150 to schedule an appointment to take their standardized
field test. Paid training to take place in late February and work to begin
in March and April. If you would like more information about the position,
please refer to www.2010censusjobs.gov .

Winter Parking Restrictions go into effect on Thursday, February 11th
Winter Parking Restrictions are now in effect this means parking is banned
on the even side of non-Snow-
Emergency-routes until April 1, unless conditions allow the City to lift the
ban earlier.
Starting on Thursday, Feb. 11 Winter Parking Restrictions beginning at 8
a.m., parking is prohibited on the
EVEN side of non-Snow-Emergency-routes. Parking is allowed on Snow
Emergency routes and the ODD side
of non-Snow Emergency-routes.
Minneapolis has had about 30 inches of snow so far this winter, with very
little melting in between snowfalls.
This means snow, even when its plowed, has begun to encroach on residential
streets. That leads to the
narrowing of streets that can pose a safety hazard when emergency vehicles,
such as fire trucks and
ambulances, cannot navigate these streets to reach people who need
assistance. For more information go to
the City of Minneapolis Snow Page <http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/snow/> .

volunteer, but not sure where or how. Schedule a volunteer get-to-know you

Lyndale Board Openings
The Lyndale Neighborhood Association is currently looking for a couple of
good people to serve on the LNA Board. LNA currently has two seats available
on the board. Both seats were originally elected in June of this past year
and would run from the time of appointment through June 2011. The process
for being appointed to one of these seats is simple; you just have to
express your interest; the board will then make an appointment at its
regular meeting, which must be confirmed at the next General Membership
meeting.
